As a community-led charity which is here to help local people, we never want to increase our prices. But unfortunately, due to the Government’s decision to increase National Insurance Contributions, as well as the rises to the Minimum Wage and the impacts of inflation, our 4-year price lock is no longer sustainable.
Therefore, we unfortunately have been put into a position where from 1st April our standard membership prices are set to increase by £1 per month and our corporate membership by £3. However, we are also happy to inform you that we are giving you new discount benefits if you are a standard Silver or Gold Member.
Without the small fee increase, we sadly wouldn’t be able to sustain some of our most vital charitable work. This includes services we offer like free meals to disadvantaged young people, supporting the lonely & isolated through our free social groups, giving employment support to young people with additional needs, offering free soft play to SEN children, and much more.

YMCAs are a network of independent local charities – we’re not a top-down national organisation. Therefore, we are completely run by and for Plymouth people. We’re proud to offer a top-class affordable centre for Plymouth while also helping local people in need instead of the wallets of shareholders.
We hope you appreciate this small increase is outside of our control and we have only made this change to ensure the sustainability of our centre and services, whilst remaining one of the most affordable gyms in the city. We hope you also know we remain committed to continually improving our offering, we hope you’ve enjoyed our newly expanded timetable with virtual classes in our refurbished studio. We have more exciting changes we can’t wait to share with you in the year ahead too. As a centre which prides ourselves on our personable, welcoming ethos committed to putting people first by having a staffed gym, we hope you continue enjoying and benefiting from being part of our fitness community.

Your discounted rates are applied automatically when you are logged into your account and book through our online portal and will come into effect from 1st April 2025.
