Following the latest Government announcement that there will be a national lockdown for at least 6 weeks, we sadly must confirm our centre will be closed for this duration.
This means the gym, classes and all services including; sports clubs, activities, and centre rentals are suspended until further notice. Our centre will only be open to support vulnerable young people through our Discovery College.
We can confirm that all fitness memberships will immediately be frozen from today. Therefore, please do not cancel your direct debit, as no payment will be made for February (or beyond if the lockdown is extended).
As payments have already been taken for January, we will credit this amount to your account, meaning that you will also pay nothing in the first month once we reopen (hopefully in March).
However, if you would prefer to have a refund for January, instead of credit to your account, then please email us at email@example.com.
We would like to thank all our members and centre users for your continued support and kind words throughout this time. If you have any questions or need any help, please get in touch, and don’t forget that we are still here for you!
Equally, if you would like to help us to continue our work, such as supporting vulnerable young people during the lockdown, you can donate to us either directly through our Virgin Giving page, or simply by selecting us as a chosen charity through Amazon or Co-op. Visit here for more details: https://www.ymcaplymouth.org.uk/donate/.
Lastly, on behalf of the whole YMCA team, we hope that you all stay safe and healthy through this challenging time, and we can’t wait to see you once again when we reopen.

Guidance for Centre Users
We have revised our policy on face coverings and are asking all users from Monday 5th October to please wear one when walking through communal areas of the centre, unless you have a valid exception. Coverings can then be removed once in the Gym, Sports Hall or Studios.
Group Fitness Classes – Cancelled until further notice
Rules when in tier 1 & 2- Organised indoor exercise classes for adults are still allowed in groups larger than six provided that individuals are social distanced and safety measures are in place. However, you must not “mix” (not socially distance) with anyone not in your household.
At peak times you may have to queue outside the facility in order to social distance. Therefore, we ask you to please arrive at the time of your session. Given our lovely British weather, we recommend that you bring your brolly in case of rain. We will be making check-in as quick as possible, but we do apologise for any wait. Once inside and working hard, we guarantee you’ll soon warm up!
Gym – Closed until further notice
All users are required to observe social distancing and follow our measures such as cleaning equipment after use and booking online and arriving at the time of their session.
Once again, we apologise for any queuing at peak times, we will do our best to minimise this as much as possible. Be sure to check the weather and bring an umbrella just in case.
Sports Activities – Cancelled until further notice
Indoor team Sports for over 18s will no longer be able to take place. Only organised sport for certain sports subject to governing body guidelines may be able to take place provided that groups do not mix. Supervised sport for under 18s can still go ahead.
For details around Sport and facility bookings, please contact our Centre Manager, Stacey Ferris on 01752 201918 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Test & Trace
All gym & class users are required to provide contact details when booking or joining as a member, we simply ask you to check-in as usual when you visit the centre with your membership card our via the MemberMe+ app on your phone.
If you are entering the facility as part of a group for a sport activity, the lead person of your group must leave their details and check-in with reception.
We would like to deeply thank all our members for your patience, kind words, donations and support throughout this difficult period. We hope to see you soon!
