Young people celebrate another successful year at Discovery College

Once again we are saying goodbye to another successful cohort of Discovery College students, who have overcome many challenges this year to complete their BTEC and CACHE qualifications with us. Students celebrated with an official Presentation Day event within their year group bubbles, where they received their awards for completing their course or first year at college. We would like to wish all our students moving on the best of luck in their future careers or higher education – don’t forget we are still here to help if you need us!

On the day, BTEC Business student, Oliver, said “It’s been a pleasure working with my tutors over these last two years. I have really enjoyed my time at Discovery College and I will keep in touch and let you know how I get on with my apprenticeship.”

Discovery College is still accepting applications for Year 11s moving on to post-16 education this September.

Remembering Bruno

Recently we relayed the sad news that our oldest serving member Anthony Brown, known as Bruno, had passed away at age 94. Bruno join YMCA Plymouth as a teenager during the second world war and remained a dedicated volunteer for the charity for many years after. Recently he visited Discovery College to impart some of his wisdom to our young people, the same age he was when he joined us.

He was a true gentleman and an exemplar of our community values. He will be fondly remembered, may he rest in peace.
