Teaching Assistant

At YMCA Plymouth, Kitto Centre, Honicknowle Lane, Plymouth, PL5 3NG

YMCA Plymouth currently requires a teaching assistant to work with students in its Discovery College.

This post is 3.5 days a week (26 hours) (Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday (part)) working within school hours and is a term time only post. Occasional work outside those hours might be required for open evenings and exhibitions. A 3-month probationary period will apply.

This is a fixed term appointment from 6th September 2021 – 22nd July 2022

The current hourly rate is £8.91 per hour.

The role is an integral part of the College. The successful applicant will work both independently and under the instruction/guidance of teaching/senior staff undertaking work/care/support to enable students’ better access to learning and to assist the teacher in the management of students in the classroom. In addition, caring for the health needs and well-being of students whilst under their supervision.

The successful candidate will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check and two satisfactory references will also be required.

Receptionist

At YMCA Plymouth, Kitto Centre, Honicknowle Lane, Plymouth, PL5 3NG

YMCA Plymouth currently requires a Receptionist for Sundays (0800-1300). The candidate needs to be flexible, able to use their initiative and communicate effectively. 

This post is 5 hours a week on a Sunday (0800-1300) with the possibility of additional hours for holiday and sickness cover. It will be a fixed term contract of 12-months with a possibility of extension to that period or permanency. A 6-month probationary period will apply.

The current hourly rate is £8.91 per hour.

Duties will include acting as a focal point for centre users, dealing with enquiries face to face and by phone and e-mail. This role will also include dealing with bookings. This will involve handling cash and undertaking other administrative duties as directed.

The successful applicant will need to be able to work unsupervised and previous experience in a receptionist role would be an advantage.

The successful candidate will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check and two satisfactory references will also be required.

Finance Admin Assistant (Kickstart)

YMCA Plymouth has a position available in our Finance Team for someone who is organised, good at problem solving and able to communicate effectively. It is an ideal role for someone wanting to enter into the world of finance and accounting.

To be eligible to apply you need to be aged 18-24 and on Universal Credit. These vacancies are 25 hours per week and are for 6 months. They are funded under the government’s ‘Kickstart’ scheme.

Discovery College Admin Assistant (Kickstart)

Discovery College is looking for a confident and organised person to join their Adminstration Team. The role will include being able to multitask and priotise the workload, for example, maintaining databases and registers, preparing paperwork for students, parents and tutors and a lot more.

Casual Leisure Assistant

At YMCA Plymouth, Kitto Centre, Honicknowle Lane, Plymouth, PL5 3NG

YMCA Plymouth currently requires a casual Leisure Assistant to work at the above centre. This role is primarily weekend working as cover for sickness and annual leave absences, but other hours might be available across the week. This will require good flexibility.

The salary will be the national minimum wage applicable to the age of the successful applicant.

This is a zero-hours contract as there is no guarantee of hours.
