Discovery College gets Good rating from Ofsted

We are delighted to announce that our Discovery College, which supports over 180 young people with vocational training, received a Good Ofsted rating after a recent inspection.

Inspectors also praised our careers support and the positive relationships students build with our tutors while feeling safe at our centre.

A message from the arctic!

The honorary President of our YMCA and Polar Explorer, Jim McNeill, recently sent a message to our members and students from the islands of Svalbard, just 800 miles from the North Pole.

Jim was on a mini-expedition with his Ice Warrior Project which trains people from all walks of life to be polar explorers.

Coming from a humble background himself, Jim highlighted in his message how realising your potential starts with discovering yourself – and if he can do it then so can you!

New pitch gets go-ahead for development this summer

Our much-loved 5-aside-court is getting a modern make-over with a brand new hybrid-astroturf surface, which will be the first of its kind in Plymouth. The famous pitch hasn’t changed much since the 1970s but was famous for decades for hosting popular local 5-a-side leagues. The new surface will be suitable for a whole range of sports and will be used by our Discovery College students during the day and available for rental and community groups in the evenings.
