Up to £10,000 of aid to be distributed from our centre this Christmas
Once again, we face a desperately difficult festive period for many people in our local community, but this Christmas at YMCA we are announcing another drive to support those in need. After last year’s successful food poverty initiatives we are proud to be going even further this year with up to £10,000 of aid being distributed from our centre.
Thanks to the Plymouth City Council and the Department for Work & Pensions’ Household Support Fund we will be distributing food, heating and clothing aid to vulnerable young people and families in our community. Other efforts going on in the centre include the Bill’s Boys Bistro’s food bank, our free breakfast club and our over-65s support to help combat loneliness and isolation. If you would like to contribute to ongoing support like this beyond the festive period, please take a look at our Provide to Plymouth campaign detailed below.

Promoting Health & Wellbeing in our working lives
Recently, our Fitness Manager, Neil Talbot and our CEO, Tom Lavis, delivered a number of workshops at the Devon & Plymouth Chamber of Commerce Health & Wellbeing Event at Devonport’s Market Hall.
The workshops centred around how we can all look to improve both our physical and mental health within our busy and stressful working lives.
If you’re interested in finding out what steps you can take to improve your health & wellbeing within your working life, then take a look at YMCA’s ‘Small Talks’ resources on mental health, as well as our corporate fitness packages.
