Big changes continue across our centre
You may have noticed a few things changing in our building over the last few months. With the completion of our new Astro pitch, we are now in the process of replacing our main roof which will add extra insulation, solar panels and no more leaks! Funding was kindly secured for this work thanks to a legacy donation from our longest-serving member, as well as grant funding to support the installation of the solar panels.
You may have also seen our stairwell leading to the Cycle Studio and Bistro has been renovated thanks to a donation by Kier Construction. The new staircase will soon be fully complete after the roof works are complete and the kind team from Greenlight Safety & Training replaster the ceiling.
Thank you for your patience while these works have been going on to improve our centre. Particularly we are aware of parking issues due to spaces being taken for the roofer’s equipment and materials. With the completion of work in the next couple of weeks, these spaces will once again be available making parking easier. We do have a large event happening this weekend which will also impact parking. Please see the end of this newsletter regarding the temporary arrangements that will be put in place.
Welcome to our new fitness members!
January is that time of year when many of us try to give our fitness routine a boost and it has been an amazing start to the new year with so many new joiners to our YMCA fitness community.
We’d like to give you all a big YMCA welcome and wish you the best of luck in your fitness journey. If you’re thinking of re-joining or trying something new if you’ve never been a member, now is a great time to sign-up. We may be at the end of January but it’s not too late! We are in fact extending our no joining fee offer throughout February, so be sure to check out our website to see what we offer.

New Astro at YMCA now available to hire
With the finishing touches now in place, we are delighted to announce our new hybrid astro pitch is available to hire for £25 per hour, or at a discounted rate for block bookings.
This great new asset to our centre will be enjoyed by the many young people in our Discovery College, as well as other community groups and youth clubs.

Building a greener YMCA for our community
Over the last 18-months our centre has been undergoing a green transformation and there’s plenty more to come. From solar panels to our very own micro-forest, we’re proud to be doing our bit to hit net zero and create a more sustainable and environmentally friendly centre.

Join Holiday Club this Feb Half-term
Our youth team is working hard to prepare for another fun club for ages 8-16 running throughout the February Half-term from the 13th to 17th. As always, the week will be packed full of games, sports and fun activities. Sessions start from just £15 for a multi-activity day session.
‘The Rock’ Climbing Project comes to YMCA
We are delighted to announce new managing partners for our climbing wall from Youth Sports Innovations, who will be starting their new sessions soon.
The new team have big plans and has already completed setting new routes and adding new holds to the wall. Be sure to click below and follow their social media for session booking information.
Important Parking Notice – Saturday 4th Feb & Sunday 5th Feb
Please note that on Saturday & Sunday we have a large event taking place across our centre. This will mean the car park will be extra busy. Overflow parking will be available at All Saints Academy school and staff will be on-hand to direct traffic. If at all possible please consider car sharing with people you attend your group fitness classes / the gym with or walking if you live nearby to help avoid any issues. Thank you!
