Discovery College students celebrate their success at Presentation Day 2023

With another academic year wrapped up for our Discovery College, our students and their families joined us to recognise their achievements at what was our biggest-ever Presentation Day and graduation ceremony.

The wonderful event was hosted at Plymouth Argyle FC and attended by around 250 people, including students who have completed their first year of study and those who have achieved their qualifications. Many of our graduates have already secured jobs, apprenticeships, university placements or other opportunities and are beginning the next steps in their career journey.

We are hugely proud of our young people and we wish the very best to each and everyone who has finished their time with us. As always, even when leaving Discovery College, our past students are still part of our family and are always welcome to drop in or get in touch when they need.

Say hello to the new faces in our fitness team

Please give a big warm welcome to the newest members of our fitness staff team, Ben and Seb.

Ben and Seb are now part of our gym crew, with Ben also instructing new Freestyle Spin classes as well as a Sunday RigFit class (see timetable).

The lads have heaps of experience and fitness knowledge between them and their friendly, energetic personalities will certainly give you that motivational boost you need in the gym.

Check out their full bios on our website and get in touch to find out about their PT availability.

Can you volunteer in our garden to help feed local people in need?

With harvest season rapidly approaching our community garden is in need of more volunteers to help supply fresh food to local people.

Our community garden partners with Provide Devon, a food crisis charity that delivers fresh food to people in need. We supply heaps of fresh produce through the hard work of our ‘Y-Growers’ team of volunteers. But the team is currently in need of extra helping hands! No gardening skills or experience is required. Visit our website to find out more and get in touch if you are interested in helping out.

A new cohort of mentors get ready to inspire more young people

After a hugely successful first year of our My Future mentoring programme, as part of our Discovery College provision, a new cohort of mentors got together in July for their first induction session.

The programme links inspiring volunteer mentors from a variety of backgrounds and industries with students from our Discovery College. Mentors catch-up once a month with students to provide additional advice about careers, as well as life skills and personal development guidance.
