YMCA Plymouth and Ocean City Running Club are firing the starting gun on a new partnership that’s set to help more local people access and enjoy the benefits of running.
The partnership aims to help the club reach more people whilst growing its offering with newly trained run leaders, more running sessions and a walking group in the new year.
Tom Lavis, CEO of YMCA Plymouth said: “As a community-driven charity with a long history of championing health & wellbeing in the city, we’re proud to partner with OCRC. The club’s welcoming and supportive ethos is what we’re all about at YMCA Plymouth – naturally, this partnership is a great thing for local people and will enable more people to enjoy both the physical and mental health benefits of taking up running.”
As part of the collaboration, OCRC members will be able to access YMCA Plymouth’s brand-new, high-spec gym at an exclusive discounted corporate membership rate as well as utilise the community bistro for a wind down after a run.
Scott from OCRC said: “We’re delighted to be joining forces with YMCA Plymouth; the gym and facilities are a great benefit to our members, and we’re looking forward to working with their experienced fitness team to support our runners. Plus, taking advantage of their big reach within the local community is a huge asset, so we’re excited about things to come.”
The club typically runs 2-3 times per week, with further sessions possibly being added in the future. Members pay a small £1 fee per session which helps sustain the club and contribute towards the club’s social activities for members.
New sessions will be starting in November, so if you’re interested in signing up, simply download the ‘Stack Team’ app and search for ‘Ocean City Running Club’ to sign-up and attend a session.
