Y-Social Mobility Provision

YMCA Plymouth’s Y-Social Mobility Provision helps local young people within areas of deprivation or disadvantage in Plymouth, empowering them to help themselves to overcome the barriers to employment and fulfil their potential.

The initiative includes a range of services, events, and projects that focus on supporting young people aged 14-25 at risk of becoming NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) and those with Special Educational Needs & Disability.

Vocational Education

We deliver vocational courses in Business, Childcare, Public Services, linked to local industry needs helping 16-19s have the skills and qualifications to start their career journey.

Launchpad Live

The biggest interactive careers event for young people in the South West! Engaging pupils from schools across the city in a hands-on showcase of local career opportunities.

The Big Parents Evening

The Big Parents Evening gives parents/guardians & their children the knowledge they need to help understand & navigate career and training pathways available.

Engineering Her Future

Inspiring young women to enter the exciting and varied world of STEM careers this event is hosted at the Tamar Bridge and engages schools from across Plymouth.

My Future

Partnering young people with inspirational mentors from a range of local businesses, the My Future Mentoring programme helps give young people tools to succeed.

WEx

Working with employers from across Plymouth and Devon, we give young people the opportunity to meaningfully engage and get experience within the workplace.

Supported Internships

Our Supported Internship scheme delivered in partnership with Plymouth City Council helps young people with SEND develop the skills & confidence to enter the workforce.

#Futures

A fun and practical course that provides coaching and skills development for young people- providing a stepping-stone back into mainstream education or employment.
